Budget splits by stage

The table shows the starting presets this calculator loads for each stage, and what each would mean at $50,000 of monthly revenue. They are illustrative starting assumptions chosen so the logic is easy to follow, not industry benchmarks. The pattern is the useful part: gifting does the learning early, then paid posts take over for creators who have proven they convert.

Frequently asked questions

How much should a small brand spend on influencers?

There is no single correct figure, so this calculator starts from an editable share of monthly revenue and lets you change it. A small brand can begin with mostly gifting, because product cost and shipping are the main spend. Set a number you can afford to lose for 90 days, then adjust using your own results.

What percentage of revenue should go to influencer marketing?

The percentages on this page are illustrative starting assumptions, not benchmarks. They fall as the brand matures: higher at the early stage, lower once paid and other channels carry more of the load. Replace them with a share that fits your margins, your goals and what your last campaign actually returned.

How should I split my budget between gifting, paid posts and UGC?

Early on, gifting is the cheapest way to learn which creators and products work. As you find creators who convert, move money toward paid posts and usage rights for them. Keep some UGC budget throughout, since you will want ad-ready content. The split fields are editable; treat the stage presets as a first draft.

Does the budget include product cost and shipping for gifts?

Yes. The gifting slice is meant to cover the full cost of each package you send, meaning product cost, packaging and shipping. Enter that all-in cost per package and the calculator shows roughly how many packages the gifting slice buys each month. Time spent running the campaign is not included.

Should I budget monthly or per campaign?

Monthly works best for always-on gifting, because creator pipelines take weeks to fill and results arrive late. For a launch or a holiday push, plan that campaign separately and add it on top. The timeline planner and the gifting campaign budget planner help you size a single campaign.

Methodology and sources

Last updated: October 29, 2026. The math is deliberately simple so you can check it:

monthly budget = monthly revenue × share of revenue

bucket amount = monthly budget × (bucket share ÷ sum of the three shares)

gifted packages = gifting amount ÷ all-in cost per package (rounded down)

UGC pieces = UGC amount ÷ cost per UGC piece (rounded down)

Where the percentages come from. They do not come from a study. The stage presets (share of revenue and the gifting, paid and UGC split) are illustrative starting assumptions written by the Seed team so the calculator opens with a sensible example. Every one of them is an editable field. If you have a real number from your own campaigns, use it and ignore the preset.

What it leaves out. Creator management tools, agency fees, your own time and content production for paid ads are not in the three buckets. Add them on top if you pay for them.
