Yes, with limits. If you have Seed installed, Shopify Sidekick can answer questions about your creator gifting (gifts sent, posts, views, recent address submissions) and can open Seed's create-campaign screen with your products already filled in. Sidekick reads and navigates. It does not edit, cancel or approve anything, and every campaign still needs your click on Create.
This post is the overview. Two others go deeper: asking Sidekick how your gifting is performing, and creating a campaign through Sidekick, step by step. If you want the general picture of what Sidekick apps can and cannot do, read what Sidekick apps can and cannot do.
What Sidekick is
Sidekick is Shopify's AI assistant for merchants. It lives in the Shopify admin, and you talk to it in plain language. On its own it knows your store. Installed apps can add to what it knows and does by publishing Sidekick app extensions, which are small, declared tools and actions that Sidekick can call. Those tools run with your Shopify login and are scoped to your own store.
What Seed adds
Seed is the Shopify app we built for gifting operations: a creator picks a product and variant on your branded link, types their own address, and a real $0 draft order lands in your admin. That produces a lot of numbers that normally live in a spreadsheet or a dashboard you forget to open. Seed's Sidekick integration puts them one question away, from inside the admin you already have open.
There are two parts. A data extension gives Sidekick five read-only lookups. An action extension lets you say "create a gifting campaign" and land on a prefilled screen. Seed's changelog entry for this is dated 28 September 2026.
Example prompts and what you get back
These are written the way a merchant talks, not the way a database does. Sidekick works out which Seed tool to use. For date ranges like "last month" it converts your words into calendar dates before it asks Seed.
| You say | Seed tool used | What you get back |
|---|---|---|
| How many gifts has Seed sent and shipped this month? | get_gifting_stats | Campaigns total and live, gifts sent (approved orders) and gifts shipped for that range |
| How many gifted creators have posted, and how many views did they get? | get_post_performance | Gifts sent, creators who posted, posted rate, posts, views, likes and comments across Instagram and TikTok |
| Show me my views day by day this week | get_view_trends | Views gained each day, not a running total, plus the start and end totals. Looks back 90 days at most |
| Which creators submitted their address for a gift this week? | get_creator_submissions | Recent creators who filled in an address, and whether each became a draft order or shipped |
| Which creator links are still active? | search_gifting_links | Per-creator single-use links, searchable by handle or campaign, filtered by active, used up, expired or disabled |
| Create a gifting campaign | Create-campaign action | Two questions from Sidekick, then Seed's create screen opens prefilled for you to review |
"Views" means the same thing it means on Seed's Results tab: total reach across every tracked Instagram and TikTok post. It is not website traffic. If you want to understand how those posts get found in the first place, how Seed tracks creator posts you never see explains it.
Where each one fits in the week
The data prompts are best as a habit. A Monday check on gifts sent, posted rate and last week's views takes one chat, and it replaces opening a dashboard. The results post lays out a four-prompt routine.
The address-submission prompt is the operational one. When a creator says they filled in the form, asking Sidekick whether it came through is faster than opening the Shopify orders list. If you run Seed with approval on, an address in is not yet an order, and Sidekick will tell you which stage a submission is at. For the process behind that, see how to collect creator shipping addresses.
The create-campaign action suits the moment you launch a product. Say you want to send the new drop to creators. Sidekick asks which products and how many one creator can order, and you land on the review screen. The create walkthrough covers the clicks.
What Sidekick cannot do with Seed
Be clear about this before you rely on it. The five data tools are read-only lookups scoped to your own shop. The action only opens a screen.
- It cannot edit a campaign, cancel a gift order, approve a creator or change a setting.
- It cannot save a new campaign. Shopify forbids silent saves from Sidekick, so the confirmation click stays with you.
- It cannot run corporate gifting. That lives inside the Seed app.
- It cannot show day-by-day views from before Seed began capturing daily snapshots. If you ask for an earlier range, a correct answer says tracking started later instead of showing zeros.
- It cannot find creators for you. Seed is a gifting operations tool, with no creator discovery database, and Sidekick does not change that.
If a question needs one of those, open Seed from the Shopify admin sidebar. Sidekick will tell you the same, and it is instructed not to invent a link to send you elsewhere.
Setting up and troubleshooting
There is nothing to configure in Seed for this. Install Seed from the Shopify App Store listing, open Sidekick in your admin, and ask. Plans and trial terms are on the pricing page. I am not going to tell you which Shopify plans, countries or languages Sidekick itself is available in, because that is Shopify's to say. Check Shopify's own documentation for that.
One quirk to know. After Seed adds or updates a tool, Sidekick can answer "tool not found" for a few minutes. Open a fresh Sidekick chat and it clears. An old conversation keeps its old tool list.
Who this is not for
If your gifting is a handful of boxes a month, you do not need an AI layer on top of it, and the Seed screens will serve you fine. If you are hoping Sidekick will source creators, negotiate rates or pay them, it will not, and neither will Seed. Seed does not do discovery, contracts, affiliate payouts or paid-deal management. It does the logistics of free product, and Sidekick is a faster way to read how that is going.
Frequently asked questions
Can Shopify Sidekick do influencer gifting?
Partly. With Seed installed, Sidekick can answer questions about your gifting (gifts sent and shipped, posted rate, views, recent creator submissions) and can open Seed's create-campaign screen prefilled with your products. It cannot edit, cancel or approve anything in Seed, and you still click Create yourself.
Does Sidekick create gifting campaigns on its own?
No. Sidekick asks which products you want to send and how many a creator can order at once, then opens Seed's create-campaign screen in your Shopify admin with those answers filled in. You review it and click Create campaign. Shopify does not allow Sidekick to save on your behalf.
What can I ask Sidekick about Seed?
How many gifts you sent and shipped in any date range, how many gifted creators posted and what views, likes and comments those posts got, views gained day by day over the last 90 days at most, which creators recently submitted an address, and which per-creator gifting links are active, used up, expired or disabled.
Can Sidekick edit or cancel a gift order in Seed?
No. All five of Seed's Sidekick tools are read-only, and the campaign action only opens a prefilled screen. To edit a campaign, approve a gift or change an order, open Seed from your Shopify admin sidebar.
Why does Sidekick say a Seed tool was not found?
Newly added tools can show as not found for a few minutes after an update. Open a fresh Sidekick chat and ask again. A new conversation picks up the current tool list.
Does Sidekick work with Seed's corporate gifting?
No. Seed's Sidekick integration covers creator gifting only. Corporate gifting is managed inside the Seed app.
