If you are a Shopify brand gifting 20 to 500 creators a month and your own team finds the creators, you don't need a discovery platform like GRIN or Modash. You need a gifting-operations tool. Seed is one: you send a creator one link, they pick the product and size and type their own address, and a $0 Shopify draft order lands in your admin. The rest of the stack is tools you probably already pay for.
This is the stack we would put together at $1M, $5M and $20M a year, built around one split. Finding creators is judgment work. Running everything after a creator says yes is mechanical. Spend your people on the first and your software on the second.
The stack in one table
Four jobs, one tool each. Prices are only listed where we have verified them; everything else says so.
| Job | $1M brand | $5M brand | $20M brand |
|---|---|---|---|
| Find creators | Instagram and TikTok search, tagged posts, your customer list. Run by the founder. Free. | Same sources, run by a coordinator, intern or VA with a written vetting routine. Free. | Same sources plus a small creator team. A database (Modash, Upfluence) only if you need a niche you don't know. Pricing on request. |
| Run gifting (link, address, order) | Seed Starter, $79/mo, 50 gift orders. Founder approves. Below about 5 gifts a month, a hand-made draft order is fine. | Seed, $199/mo, unlimited orders. Coordinator pastes the link, founder or lead approves. | Seed $199/mo, or Concierge $299/mo if nobody has time to run it. Same approval gate. |
| Fulfil | Shopify admin, you pack it. | ShipStation or a 3PL, already syncing Shopify orders. Unchanged. | 3PL or warehouse system, already syncing Shopify orders. Unchanged. |
| Follow up | Seed's emails (order placed, shipped, delivered follow-up, post reminder, thank-you). | Seed's emails plus a Klaviyo flow for gifted creators. Klaviyo pricing scales with your list size. | Same, with gifted creators kept in their own Klaviyo segment. |
| Track posts and status | Seed's content tracking and Kanban board, all plans. | Same, reviewed weekly by whoever owns creators. | Same, plus a monthly campaign report by tag. |
| Creator management platform | Not yet. | Not yet. | Only if you run paid contracts and affiliate payouts at scale. GRIN was $0 to $1,500 a month when we checked on 2026-08-19. |
The revenue bands are a rule of thumb, not a law. What really sets the row is gift volume and how many people you have, which is the same rule we use in best Shopify apps for influencer marketing.
Find: Instagram, TikTok and your own customers
Nobody can sell you fit. A database will give you follower counts, engagement rates and filters. It will not tell you whether a creator sounds like someone who would use your product, and that is the only thing that decides whether they post.
The sources that carry most of the weight cost nothing. Accounts that already tag you or your competitors. Customers who have an audience and already bought. Creators whose comments sections your own buyers show up in. The person doing this should know your brand, which is why it belongs to a founder, a coordinator or an intern and not to software. For the tactics, read how to find creators to gift products to and micro-influencer scoring rather than looking for another tool.
Run gifting on Shopify with Seed
Send one link. Creators pick their products and address. A draft order lands in your Shopify admin.
Run: one link, a $0 draft order, your 3PL untouched
This is the half that eats the week, and it is the half Seed was built for. In our experience, each creator who says yes costs 3 to 8 DM round-trips for product, size and address, then 5 to 10 minutes typing the draft order, then spreadsheet updates, address fixes and posting follow-ups. Multiply by 50 creators and it is a job.
With Seed, the person finding creators sends one branded link. The creator picks a product and variant (with images and live stock) and types their own address. With gate-first approval on, nothing becomes a Shopify order until a human approves it. Then a real $0 draft order lands in the admin, tagged by campaign. No discount code, no storefront checkout, so nothing can leak and your analytics stay clean (see why gift orders skew Shopify analytics).
Because it is a normal Shopify order, whatever already fulfils your orders keeps working. We cover exactly what a warehouse sees in sending gift orders to ShipStation or a 3PL. The chain end to end is in Shopify influencer gifting automation.
Follow up: Klaviyo and Seed's post-delivery emails
Two layers, and they do different things. Seed reads Shopify's delivery webhooks and sends the creator emails you can switch on or off one by one: order placed, shipped, a follow-up after delivery, a post reminder and a thank-you. We do not do DM automation, and we won't claim to.
Klaviyo is where longer relationship flows live: re-gifting for a launch, a discount code for creators who posted, segments that keep gifted creators out of your cart-abandonment flows. Seed has a Klaviyo integration, and the setup is covered in connecting influencer gifting to Klaviyo. If you gift fewer than about 20 creators a month, Seed's own emails are enough and you can skip the Klaviyo flow.
Track: the Kanban board and content tracking
The question every founder asks eight weeks in is who actually posted. Seed's content tracking looks for posts on Instagram and TikTok, and every creator sits in a Kanban stage from contacted to shipped to posted. Every plan includes content tracking. This replaces the spreadsheet column that nobody updates. If you want to build the same thing by hand with tags and metafields, building a creator CRM in Shopify shows how.
When to add GRIN or a discovery database
Add a creator management platform when the work it does becomes a real part of your week. GRIN, CreatorIQ and Traackr are built for brands running hundreds of paid contracts, affiliate payouts, usage rights and agencies, with a full-time influencer team. If that is you, buy one. GRIN's range was $0 to $1,500 a month on 2026-08-19; see GRIN pricing. CreatorIQ and Traackr gate their pricing.
Add a discovery database such as Modash or Upfluence when you need thousands of creators in a niche you don't know and nobody on staff can source them. Modash also offers Shopify-connected gifting now, so it covers part of the running half too. We compare it with Seed in Seed vs Modash. For the broader question of whether a database is worth it, read social media influencer databases.
What not to buy yet
- A creator database when your team already finds more creators than it can ship to. The bottleneck is after yes.
- A platform with a multi-month commitment before you know your gift volume. Influencer Hero, for example, was $649, $1,049 and $2,490 a month with a 3-month commitment when we checked on 2026-08-19.
- A second tool for tracking posts if your gifting tool already does it.
- A discount-code workaround for gifting. It leaks, and it distorts your numbers.
Who should not pick Seed
If you gift fewer than about 5 products a month, do it by hand in Shopify. A DM and a draft order are fine, and $79 a month is not worth it. If you pay creators per post, Stack Influence runs at roughly $30 per completed post and $0 a month, which is a different model from gifting. If you need contracts, affiliate payouts, paid-deal management or a creator database, Seed does none of those, and you should look at GRIN, Modash or similar. Seed also has a small number of App Store reviews (5.0 stars on 3), so judge it on a trial rather than on the rating.
What to do next
Look at your own week. If most of the hours go to chasing sizes and addresses and typing orders, that is the row to fix first. Seed has a 7-day free trial and the plans are at /pricing. The app is at apps.shopify.com/influencer-form. I run a DTC water-purifier brand doing about $2M a year, and I built Seed because our own store needed the running half handled.

Frequently asked questions
What tools does a small Shopify brand need for influencer marketing?
Four jobs need covering: finding creators (Instagram and TikTok search, your own tagged posts and customers), running the gift after yes (a gifting-operations tool such as Seed), follow-up email (Klaviyo, plus Seed's own post-delivery emails) and tracking posts (Seed's content tracking and Kanban board). Most brands under about $20M a year do not need a creator management platform on top.
Do I need to replace my marketing stack to add Seed?
No. Seed creates a normal tagged $0 Shopify order, so Shopify, your 3PL, your fulfillment and your analytics stay as they are. Klaviyo keeps doing your email. Seed takes over the part between a creator saying yes and the product shipping, plus the post-delivery follow-up.
When should I add GRIN or a discovery database like Modash?
Add GRIN when you are running hundreds of paid contracts, affiliate payouts and usage rights with a full-time influencer team. Add Modash or a similar database when you need thousands of creators in a niche you do not know yet and nobody on staff can source them. Modash also offers Shopify-connected gifting. If your own people find creators, you can usually wait.
What does the stack cost per month?
Seed is $79 a month on Starter (50 gift orders), $199 on Seed (unlimited) and $299 on Concierge (done-for-you), all with a 7-day free trial and no free plan for new installs. Instagram and TikTok search cost nothing. Klaviyo, ShipStation and 3PL pricing depends on your volume, so check their own pages.
Who should run the influencer stack day to day?
At $1M a year, the founder. At $5M, a marketing coordinator, intern or VA finds creators and pastes the gift link while the founder approves. At $20M, a small creator team finds and vets, while operations and fulfillment run untouched on the same Shopify orders they already process.
