What actually happens in Shopify when a creator submits a gift form, no coupon, no checkout.

Every gift Seed places is a real Shopify order, not a spreadsheet row or a third-party system your team has to check separately. This page explains exactly how it gets there.

## What happens on submit

When a creator taps **Confirm & Submit**, Seed:

1. Creates a Shopify **draft order** with the creator's chosen product/variant line items, each carrying a **100% discount** ("Influencer Gift"), the creator's typed shipping address, and a **$0.00 shipping line** (titled "Free Shipping" by default. A campaign can rename or reprice this line).
2. Immediately **completes** that draft order, which converts it into a normal Shopify order and drops it straight into your fulfillment queue, exactly like any order a customer pays for.

The order carries the tag `seed-gift` plus a tag for the campaign it came from, so you can filter or search for gifted orders in Shopify at any time.

> **Tip:** The draft order note (visible on the order in Shopify admin) carries the campaign name, the creator's Instagram/TikTok handle if they gave one, their phone number, and any custom-question answers. Everything that doesn't have its own Shopify field lives there.

## Why $0 and not a coupon code

An earlier approach some tools use is a 100%-off discount _code_ the creator types at a normal checkout. That code can leak. Screenshotted, shared, or found by anyone browsing your store, and then used by people who were never gifted anything. Seed skips checkout entirely: the discount is applied directly on each line item of a specific draft order tied to that one creator's submission, so there's no reusable code to leak in the first place.

## A handful of shops need a non-zero declared value

A small number of stores (mostly ones invoicing in a currency where Shopify won't complete a literal $0.00 order) are set up with a tiny minimum charge (a cent or two) on the product line instead of shipping, so the order still declares a real value. This is a beta setting enabled per store; it doesn't apply unless your store has specifically needed it.

## If it fails partway through
