# How to leave Seed cleanly (uninstalling and what happens to your data)

What to check before you uninstall Seed, and exactly what's deleted versus kept afterward.

## The goal

Whether you're pausing gifting for a season or moving to a different tool, leaving cleanly means nothing breaks for a creator mid-flight, your billing actually stops, and you know what happens to your records before you click confirm, not after.

## How most brands do it

Most brands uninstall the moment they decide to stop, without checking whether any gift orders are still in flight. That can leave a creator's order sitting mid-fulfillment with no one watching it, and mid-cycle billing questions ("did that actually cancel?") that take longer to resolve after the fact than before. Some brands also assume uninstalling wipes everything instantly and are surprised (in both directions), by what's actually kept versus deleted.

## How experienced teams do it

Teams treat uninstalling as a deliberate close-out, not a panic button. They let any gift orders already in flight finish shipping first, since Seed stops tracking and reminding the moment it's uninstalled. They know uninstalling itself cancels a paid subscription. so there's no separate "cancel billing" step to remember. And if there's any chance they might come back, they know their campaigns and settings aren't wiped immediately, so a reinstall within a reasonable window doesn't mean starting from zero.

## Do it in Seed

1. Check [Gift orders](https://www.seedinfluencers.com/help/new-app-tour) for anything still pending or in transit, and let it finish shipping first if you can.
2. Open your Shopify admin and go to Settings → Apps and sales channels.
3. Find Seed in your list of installed apps.
4. Click **Delete** (or **Uninstall**), and confirm.

Shopify notifies Seed the moment this happens, and Seed cleans up automatically, you don't need to do anything inside the app itself.

## What happens immediately

- Any Shopify page Seed created for a gift form is deleted.
- Any recurring/re-gifting schedules for your shop are cancelled.
- Automatic post tracking for your shop stops.
- Your login session with Seed is deleted.
- Your subscription, if you had a paid plan, is cancelled, same as switching to Free.

## What's kept

Your shop's own data (campaigns, gift order records, branding, and settings), isn't wiped immediately. Order data may be retained for up to 90 days after uninstall for your records, per Seed's [privacy policy](https://www.seedinfluencers.com/privacy). If you reinstall within that window, your existing campaigns and settings should still be there.

## Expert checklist

- No gift orders were left mid-fulfillment with nobody watching them.
- You know uninstalling cancels billing automatically, no separate cancellation step needed.
- You checked what's kept versus deleted before assuming either way.
