The goal

A gift link's job doesn't end the day you send it. It needs to stop taking orders when the batch is spent, come back for the next batch without being rebuilt from scratch, and eventually retire cleanly when you're done with it for good. Getting the lifecycle right is what lets you run the same campaign shape over and over instead of starting over each time.

How most brands do it

The common failure is letting a campaign run indefinitely because nobody remembered to turn it off, so budget keeps getting spent on a batch that was supposed to have closed weeks ago. The opposite failure is just as common: archiving a campaign to "clean up" the list, then needing the exact same setup again next month and rebuilding every product, field, and branding choice from memory.

How experienced teams do it

Pause, don't archive, for anything you expect to run again, a monthly gifting cycle, a recurring launch. Pausing stops the link from taking new orders while keeping every setting intact, so turning it back on for the next batch is one click. Duplicate a campaign when you want to test a variant (different products, a different cap), without touching the original while it's still running. Reserve archiving for a campaign you genuinely never intend to reuse; it's the one step that isn't meant to be casually reversed.

Do it in Seed

Pause a campaign:

  1. On the Campaigns list (or Home's Recent Campaigns), find the campaign's row and click its Active / Paused toggle.
  2. Pausing needs one confirmation. A dialog explains that the link stops accepting new orders until you turn it back on. Un-pausing is a single click, no confirmation.

Duplicate a campaign to test a variant or start the next batch:

  1. In the campaign's row, click the chevron (More actions) next to its action buttons.
  2. Click Duplicate. This copies the campaign's products, form fields, branding, and rules into a new draft, which opens straight into its editor so you can rename it and adjust anything before sharing its link.

Archive a campaign you're permanently done with:

Archiving is the one step that isn't meant to be casually reversed, an archived campaign no longer appears in the Active or All lists' default view and its link stops accepting orders. If there's any chance you'll reuse the setup, pause instead.

Expert checklist

  • A recurring campaign is paused between batches, never archived.
  • Testing a variant goes through Duplicate, not by editing the live campaign in place.
  • Archive is reserved for setups you're genuinely done with.
  • You check active campaigns periodically for ones that should have been paused already.
