The goal
A creator who just received a gift often has a quick question. "Can I get this in a different color?", "when will this ship?", and asks it the fastest way they know: an Instagram DM to your brand, not an email reply. If nobody's reading that inbox, the question goes unanswered, and so does the post you were hoping for.
How most brands do it
Most brands run their Instagram DMs the same way they always have, checking the app manually, whenever someone remembers to. That works fine at low volume. It stops working the moment gifting picks up: DMs from creators get buried under everything else in the inbox, Instagram's 24-hour reply window quietly closes on ones nobody saw, and creators who don't hear back within a day or two assume the brand isn't paying attention, which isn't a great precedent to set with someone you just sent free product to.
How experienced teams do it
Teams that treat creator relationships as a real channel connect their Instagram account directly to wherever they're already managing gifting, so DMs show up next to the order they relate to instead of in a separate app someone has to remember to open. That context matters: replying "yep, shipped yesterday, tracking below" is a lot faster when you can see the order right there. They also treat the connection status as something to actually check, not set-and-forget. A connection can expire or get revoked on Instagram's side without warning, and a stale connection is functionally the same as never connecting at all.
Do it in Seed
Go to Settings and select Instagram from the left rail.
Click Connect Instagram. This opens Instagram in a new tab.
Approve access on Instagram's side for your professional account.
Return to Seed and confirm the status badge reads active.
Check back periodically. If the badge ever reads expired or revoked, click Reconnect right away rather than letting DMs pile up unanswered.
